In a stunning example of corporate hegemony-seeking disdain for the forces of good and right-thinking people everywhere, SxSW failed inexplicably to grant any award of any kind to the Green my Apple site. Disappointed Green My Apple fans throughout the conference, including web luminaries and Mac Huggers Kathy Sierra, Chris Christian Crumlish (and Ze Frank, who took literature and mumbled noncommittally about blogging it) will no doubt cry scandal. It had come to the attention of award sponsors, Adobe, in pre-award drinks at the bar, that the site contained no trace of their flagship product,
Flash, and was built entirely in flat-as-a-pancake HTML. “Huh. We didn’t know you could still do that on the internet any more” was their taken-aback response.
All contestents did receive tiny keychain wind-up flashlights, which somehow Adobe thinks will make it all better and that we’ll praise them for their green innovation.
Team Green my Apple is redoubling its efforts in networking the entire conference to hug their Macs. The people are with us, and shall rise.
Here’s how we drowned our sorrows at the Red Eye Fly, Club de Ville, and Dakota
